Checked these out this year and really liked them:
Dead Silence- I actually liked this. A bit silly being as it contained dolls, but the plot was handeled well and the ending was good. 6.5-10
Spiderman 3- Too much money on the effects and some weak dialogue in points, but otherwise this was awesome. One of the few comics series I can stand. Good plot and cool fight sceanes as always. 7-10
Vacency- Really good, one of my favorites this year. Simple, yet realistic. I wish they were making a second. 8-10
Mr. Brooks- crazy plot that I'm sure some would hate, but it was a good mix of pyschological, thriller and horror. Very well acted. 8-10
Disturbia- Another good plot that hasn't been covered so elaborately. Shia LeBouf has a good career ahead of him. 8/10
Stay Alive- Silly plot that was handeled well. Tailed off a bit at the end, but still went smoothly enough. 7/10
Rush Hour- Classic I've seen many times, and I never get sick of it. 8.5-10
Freedom Writers- Very good inspirational movie that finally didn't deal with sports. Very well acted and realistic. 8/10
Alpha Dog- Pretty unrealistic plot, but the nudity made up for it, although pointless. Good enough to watch again, but it's not a must-see. 5.5-10

I thought Alpha Dog was based on a true story It is, which makes it ironic I know. Just the factor of a kid being held hostage against his will and becoming good friends with guys that wanna kill his brother is kinda silly. He winds up choosing to stay with them and become friends, which I don't know anyone that would or should react that way. -Jason

That is strange but I have heard of people who become attached to the people who kidnap them.

That is strange but I have heard of people who become attached to the people who kidnap them. So common in fact they have a syndrome named after it!

Well, in a world where Britney Spears still (almost) has a career, anything is possible.
