This is the thread to discuss your teams picks before or after they make them.
My team is the Atlanta Falcons. Their major needs are on DEFENSE...but I would still love to see them get a WR for Vick to throw to.
Their first pick is Number 8. Here are the guys that are being talked about for their pick:
Vince Wilfork, DT, Miami Tommie Harris, DT, Oklahoma DeAngelo Hall, DB, Virginia Tech
I'm hoping they get Hall if he is still there when they pick at Number 8.

What a punk.
The Rivers pick at #4 was a little surprising. Maybe a trade in the works?

Well I'm REALLY happy with the Falcons first pick! Now all we need is a WR and some DL in the second/third round.

Yeah, Hall is awesome. And even though the Browns got Winslow(did I mention that he rules?), I'm kinda pissed that we don't get a second round pick now. Why in the hell did we lose a second round pick, so that we could get a 6th instead of 7th pick?!

Looks like the Falcons traded up to get Michael Jenkins, a WR from Ohio State. Good pick-up IMO. He's a good size to 6'4, 217.
Falcons 3rd round pick was QB Matt Schaub from Virginia. They did need a back-up QB especially after that fiasco last year.
Falcons 4th round pick was OLB Demorrio Williams from Nebraska. Good pick-up IMO as the Falcons need help at OLB to support Brooking at ILB. I have seen him compared to Derrick Brooks as far as body type and ability to make big plays. This could be a good late round pick-up.
Other pics: 5th- Lavalais, Chad/DT/6-1/293/Louisiana State 6th- Pruitt, Etric/FS/6-0/197/Southern Mississippi 7th- Wilson, Quincy/RB/5-9/225/West Virginia
Don't know much about Pruitt or Wilson but Lavalais was a steal during the 5th round. Hopefully he can help shore up the interior of the defensive line.
Here is what cbs.sportsline.com had to say about the Falcons first 3 picks:
DeAngelo Hall Vic Carucci's Analysis This is clearly one of the great cornerbacks to come out of the college ranks in many years. It's no surprise that Jim Mora, in his first draft as a head coach, went to the side of the ball that he knows best. To achieve almost anything that Mora wants to on defense, he needs a genuine, shut-down cornerback that will allow other defensive backs and linebackers to be free to generate pressure and enhance coverage.
Michael Jenkins Vic Carucci's Analysis Without the presence of a starting quality receiver opposite him, Peerless Price struggled last year. He is a capable No. 1 receiver, but only with someone to help take away some of the coverage that teams concentrate on him. Jenkins is that kind of player -- he has great hands and should provide a much-needed additional open target for Michael Vick.
Matt Schaub Gil Brandt's Analysis This is one of my favorite players. I think this is a really good choice. The negative is that he doesn't have the greatest scrambling ability. The positive is that he has a brilliant mind and tremendous accuracy. He was the ACC player of the year in 2002 over Philip Rivers. He's completed 69 percent of his passes over his career.
Demorrio Williams OLB Nebraska Gil Brandt's Analysis This is a player that came to Nebraska out of Texas as a running back. He's up to about 230 pounds and he can run fast, and he can make plays. He can run -- it's one trait worth picking for.
Chad Lavalais DT Louisiana State Gil Brandt's Analysis He should be an inspiration to every American. He was unable to qualify for football coming out of high school and spent three years working as a prison guard! He got qualified and went to LSU. He ended up being an All-SEC defensive lineman this year. He's very strong.

Kev, Quincy Wilson is a monster! The Falcons should really give him a chance to at least back up Duckett at the RB spot. He is a rarity b/c he has both power and speed, and probably some of the most underrated footwork i've seen in some time. It's a WONDER he went in the 7th round, as i expected him to be the 4th RB taken (next to Jones, Jackson, and Perry). Thats a definite steal for ATL, who also got my boy, my fav player in the draft, DeAngelo Hall!

It must have been a case of the Falcons taking the best player available since they already have Duckett and Warrick Dunn. The Falcons have really improved their skill positions on offense this year. Here is their roster: QB Micheal Vick QB Matt Schaub (R) RB Warrick Dunn RB TJ Duckett RB Quincy Wilson (R) WR Peerless Price WR Michael Jenkins (R) WR Dez White (FA) WR Brian Finneran (much better as a back-up then starter) TE Alge Crumpler

As a UVA fan I am glad that Schaub went to a team I like. He should make a great backup for Vick!

Yeah the Falcons had a hell of a draft...maybe the best besides the Lions and Cards.
Lions were the unsung MVP's here, as they got 2 probable starters in Kevin Jones and Roy Williams, not to mention how much better that will make Joey Harrington, who has potential to be an all star THIS YEAR IMO.

The Skins definetly are fun to watch, and definetly have a chance to finally become a major threat this year. Although i STRONGLY am against Brunell taking young Ramsey's job, i do indeed LOVE Portis on this team, and believe ALOT in the WR core for this team. Springs is a shutdown CB and they had a nice draft as well. Mark my words, with smart coaching, and Ramsey starting (after Brunell's inevitable injury), that is definetly the most improved team, and probably playoff bound this yr.
