I'm not a soccer fan but I usually watch casually during the World Cup. Just watched the second half of Sweden versus Trindad and Tobago and it was damn good.

Finally, a sport I can talk about on here England were not very good today, they didn't play like a team at all and only managed to win against a team they should be beating 3-0 through an own goal. They got out played by a much lesser team and the ref was quite dubious, that doesn't make up for the fact that it was a very lacklustre performance. Taking Michael Owen off so early was a bad mistake by Sven, I can understand wanting to rest your players, but Michael Owen is Michael fucking Owen, the guy scores goals fopr his country, more so than anyone else on the team. It's between Brazil, Argentina and Holland for the cup I'd say. Although I'm always rooting for an Italy win.

I too am loving me some Cup. Being a former soccer player and a die-hard hockey fan, I'm all about the cups right now (Yes, I'm wearing one while I write this, har-de-har-har).
England looked less than impressive today, but 3 points are three points. I have to agree with Resh, why the hell did they take off Owen? Take off Crouch instead. Lampard and Owen, with Beckham as their setter are amazing. Yes Crouch is tall, but Owen burries him in skill.
It was good to see the Ivory Coast make a game out it wil Argentia today. You have to root for Ivory Coast as sheer underdogs who can pull-out an upset.
I can't wait to see Italy, Brazil and France play. Brazil is just a monster of talent. Yes, I think they'll get scored on, but I don't think any defense will be able to contain their offense. Italy just has a solid team (Including Toti) and being that I'm a Juventus fan and have been to Italy twice (Soon to be three times), Italy will always be my team (Behind USA of course). As for France, I really want to see how Z.Z. works with Henry. Henry always seems to look less than amazing in big games.
As for the US, sadly AT BEST I think they'll tie one and lose 2. In the world stage, Moreno and Donovin are average at best. I hope USA proves me wrong an dat least beats Ghanna, but we'll see.
If anyone across the pond has any new cheers they can teach me, it would be great!
I was in Italy on my Honeymoon during the Euro Cup in '04 and it was amazing. It was a party every night(Even excluding the Honeymoon stuff)! It must be awesome in Germany now.

Do you really think Prince Nana will let this happen? Don't you know how much money he has invested in the World Cup this year? He might even dust off Fast Eddie, John Walters and Mike Kruel for a run in during one of the games!

Other than that, never. -Jason

Italy were impressive and played a smart game today, fully deserved win. I'm rooting for them as always. I expect their game with the Republic to be the most anticipated of the group stages, Both should have 6 points going in, and neither will want to lose, as they'll most likely have to face Brazil.

Well the US got their sh*t handed to them. At least it was by the Czechs as supposedly they are pretty damn good. They had 3 guys on their team, one who I could have sworn was in fact Owen Wilson, that just dominated.

Yeah, losing to the Czech's is nothing to be ashamed of, they're one of the top 10 teams in the world at their best.

That's right,it wasn't our best game for sure(same thing for the second half of the final vs France)but you showed a strong personality and great spirit(our player Gattuso would say two big BALLS). The night of that game vs you I was at a huge metal festival where Metallica were headliners, after the show of the pre-headliners(the Darkness)we watched(in 40.000)the game vs Usa in huge megascreens and at the end of the whole game the Tallica show started with the Morricone's intro-video,it's been pretty cool and weird.
