I was out looking for Reno 911 on dvd today and saw the double pack of UFC 43 and 44 for a real low price at newbury comics, so i figured id get it. So far i am glad i did as all the three premliminary fights i just watched were AWESOME
Pedro Rizzo vs Tra Telligman
This was a BLOODY fight, and well it should be as it was stopped by the third doctor check in the match, and second on Telligman. Tra not having a right peck was very weird to start, but it didnt stop him from throwing some nice punches and busting Pedro open in the first round. Tra REALLY wanted to keep going but he had a nasty gash on his forehead that stopped him in the later minutes of the second round. Great first fight though, i was very impressed
Matt Linland vs Franko Vitale
This fight barely lasted a minute as Vitale got backed against the cage and then took Linland down HARD, knocking him out from the force against the mat. Linland was totally KOd at match end.
Yves Edwards vs Eddie Ruiz
WOW, this maybe my second favorite UFC fight next to Bonner vs Griffin. The reason this wasnt as good is because Yves had controll almost all of the match, totally dominating at points and busting Ruiz open early and getting some tight submissions. But Ruiz always found a counter, never backed off and never gave up. Ruiz showed pure heart, and if he worked his punches harder he could have had this one
Now im on to watch the rest of this, cant wait to see Coulture vs Lidell I

UFC Light Heavyweight Championship Randy "The Natural" Coulture vs Chuck "Iceman" Lidell
Well, going into this match everyone was assuming that Chuck wouldnt dominate Randy with his striking skills, but most of this match was actually Randy OUTSTRIKING Chuck in an amazing fashion. Chucks escapes to get back to standup were insane but he couldnt avoid Randys takedowns and as soon as Randy got in a good mount, it was all over with the ground and pound. I hope match #2 is a little less one sided (or more one sided on Chucks behalf, to make the third match more intresting). But definitly a great, great match but not as amazing as some of the prelim fights in terms of guts...but definitly cool as far as Coulture doing the impossible at 39

Funny. I just bought the double pack last night and finished watching both events this afternoon.
I think Lindland knocked himself out in that match. It looked like he went for a takedown and slipped then landed on his head. Tough break, because he seems to be a great fighter.
