Austin Aries/Jack Evans/Roderick Strong vs. Izzy/Angeldust/Dixie
AWESOME 6-man scramble to start off the show. First of all Gen Next (Shelley/Evans/Aries/Strong) come in and take out Christopher Street Connection. Shelley cuts a promo then they take out Dunn/Marcos (both teams were scheduled for a scramble). Evans pulls out what I can only describe as a standing moonsault into an SSP. Then Special K comes out and the impromptu match starts. Pretty good match with tremendous action and an awesome ending in which Aries hits a 450 from the top, Roderick KILLS someone with a backbreaker and Evans hits a 630 from the top for a triple pin. GREAT START TO THE SHOW.....
more to come....

Alex Shelley vs. Hydro
I liked this a lot. Started off with some nice chain wrestling and the fans were digging it with some sustained chants of "Let's Go Hydro" and "Alex Shelley" alternating one after the other. Really tight well worked match here in which both guys look good. Shelley goes over with the Border City Stretch and has really been catapulted by the first 30 minutes of this tape.
Masada/Danny Daniels/Trent Acid vs. Loc/Devito/Justin Credible
Decent brawl/6-man tag. If you like Carnage Crew odds are you will like this.
Nigel McGuiness vs. Jimmy Jacobs
Really fun little match here. It is truely a joy watching Nigel work. The more I see of him the more I enjoy. Good stuff here.
CM Punk/Colt Cabana vs. BJ Whitmer/Dan Maff
Good match. Definitely better than their RRC3 match.
Briscoes vs. Outkast Killas
The Briscoes looked like GODS in this match. AWESOME stuff from Jay and Mark. Great opening with a killer sequence of double stiff chops, a double team chokeslam type-move and nice running double boots to their opponent in the corner. Killas looked good in this match also but only got in a limited amount of offense, they seem to look better every time (kinda like Dunn/Marcos). Briscoes finished them off with sick double finishers, Jay hit a Jay Driller and Mark hit a cut-throat burining hammer. GREAT, short match.
Alex Shelley/Roderick Strong/Austin Aries/Jack Evans vs. Jimmy Rave/John Walters/Mark Briscoe/Jay Briscoe
Awesome. Awesome. Match. Great stuff here and a definite must see match. Not sure if it will rank as a true MOTYC yet or not as I will have to rewatch it. Great storytelling in this match and great rivalry possibilities have been built from this one match. Jay and Roderick has some fantasticly stiff exchanges throughout the match. Everyone looked really good (especially Austin Aries, and John Walters), lots of innovative moves and lots of drama in this match. Check it out.
Punk vs. Steamboat confrontation was good. Fans are really into Steamboat and Punk is definitely over as a heel.
Samoa Joe vs. Homicide
I liked this a lot. I think it's the 4th time they've met in singles competition but the fued/matches have not gotten stale. There was good intensity and they brought in another dimesion with Homicide bloodying Joe. Good stuff.
Overall I REALLY enjoyed this show. One of the best this year IMO. The card just seemed to flow really well. Probably not the best card to pick up in terms of straight-forward workrate but definitely one of my favorites so far this year.
I'm probably rating Gen Next too high but fuck it:
Updated ROH 2004 Show Rankings: 1. 2nd Year Anniversary (must-see) 2. Generation Next (need-to-see) 3. ROH Reborn Stage Two (need-to-see) 4. The Battle Lines are Drawn (need-to-see) 5. ROH Reborn Stage One (good to see) 6. Round Robin Challenge III (good to see) 7. At Our Best (good to see) 8. The Last Stand (good to see)

Very helpful review, as i'm getting this one real soon and now i'm looking forward to this even more. I love the heelism and idea of the Next Gen stable and i hope it comes off on tape as well as i'm anticipating.
