Michael Shane vs. Austin Aries
Very fun opener. Shane is growing alot on me for wrestling smart and being a good heel, and i'm digging Aries as usual. Both guys play brilliantly to the crowd, and some fun moves are traded here. Aries is very innovative, and this one was nice.
Mickey/Lacey vs. Danger/MsCheif
The only reason I kept this on is because Shelley was on commentary, and very fun at that. OK match i guess.
Trik Davis vs. Zach Gowen
Why sign Gowen Ian, Why? Oh well, it was really short and nothing really happened.
Danny Daniels vs. Colt Cabana
Now we're talkin! Fun match that gave both men time to pull stuff out. Cabana was funny as usual, but got in some nice offense here. The more Daniels i see, the more i like him as a ME face in IWA. Really good match!
Nate Webb vs. Roderick "Backbreaker Bear" Strong vs. Emil Sitochi vs. Jimmy Jacobs vs. Arik Cannon vs. Petey Williams
As expected, this was a fast paced, Very fun match where everyone had time to look good. I loved that this was elimination and everyone got alot of time. Cannon showed me alot here for the first time, and Sitochi looked GREAT. Strong and Jacobs both hit some fun stuff in their interactions and Webb RULES! The dancing was KEY! Anyway, this was probably my favorite match so far.
Overall this show is the best i've seen from IWA so far. 3 VERY FUN matches that all got alot of time, and i still have Styles/Sydal, B-Boy in action, and Joe in action to see. This is well on it's way to beating One More Time as my favorite show thus far.
Thoughts?

The more Daniels i see, the more i like him as a ME face in IWA. Hmm....there's just something wrong with that. Daniels is supposed to be a pretty big heel... Ooorrrr nevermind, I think I just realized what you meant now. Eh, it's 1:30 in the morning, and I read it as a face wrestler, who's in the main event. Yeah.

LOL yeah i meant a main event PLAYER, not a face. This may be a streachy question seeing as how tired you are, but what did you think of the show to this point and was my review similar to your thoughts?

Eehhhh..hmm. I can't remember things well even when I'm wide awake. BUT I remember enjoying STB5 a LOT overall, particularly some stuff near the end that you haven't even gotten to yet. Honestly from what you've talked about I don't remember much about those matches so I don't think anything really stuck out as must-see, but I know you got some good stuff coming up for sure.

Adam Flash vs. Steve Stone
Good little match here. Flash looked better than usual, and Stone impressed me alot in my first look at him. He had a good fan fallowing and a cool moveset. Good stuff.
Styles vs. Sydal
What more can i say but this is maybe my MOTY so far. Maybe i'm going a BIT far here, but everything about this was PERFECT. Good storytelling of the young guy scouting and trying to show up Styles, and their styles being a mirror image of each other. They had some SICK series and did some incredible things, and the crowd was HOT! I honestly thought a few times on near falls that it was over. I haven't been excited and cheered that much for a match since Styles/London of last year. Fans even chanted "Match of the year", and the promo by Styles got to me as well! Unbelieveable, and i'm suprised you guys didn't hype it more. Very underrated at least.
Delirious vs. Lynn
Another very good match, that showcased one of the best in the world against a good up and comer. Delirious showed me some stuff i'd never seen before, and despite Lynn throwing out his back which he said he was sorry for, he was very good here as well. Some hilarious comedy in there with the bunny and Delirious' great language. A bit long, but very cool.
Bradley and Boz vs. Collyer and McGuinness
Bad, just bad. Bradley and Boz SUCK and Collyer and McGuinness bore me to death. I fast forwarded half the way through this.
BJ Whitmer vs. Samoa Joe
Back on track here. Good stiff match that was just a shotfest. Whitmer seems to suck royally everywhere, but be awesome in ROH, but i liked this one. Joe is badass.
2 out of 3 falls- B-Boy vs. Chris Hero
This went at least 45 minutes, and was awesome the whole way. As all Hero matches do, it told a great story from start to finish, and i'm also marking this as a MOTYC. Good crowd, good technical series, major STIFFNESS throughout, and good high impact drama. Hero is truely an IRON MAN. Great match that every fan should see.
WifeBeater vs. Corpral Robinson
Good for what it was. Brutal hardcore, but i wasn't that into it as i expected i wouldnt be.
Overall this is my favorite show from IWA thus far. Styles/Sydal and B-Boy/Hero are legit MOTYC's, and the 6 way, Delirious/Lynn, Cabana/Daniels and Aries/Shane are all very good matches as well. I'd put this up there with ROH shows easily. Much better than the hype this show gets, or lackthereof. Nice show with several different styles.
Thoughts? I know i'm gonna get lynched for calling Sydal/Styles a MOTYC, and for hyping a B-Boy match, but ah well.

I definitely think you are overhyping the AJ vs. Sydal match. It was really good for what it was. But what it was...was more style than substance. Basically a collection of well executed spots that didn't really mean much to the match it self. Again..it was a fun match but nothing above ***1/2 at it's highest (and that's too high of a rating).

Ratings and what matches people like are subjective.

I didn't think you'd be that big on it, but i was more drawn into it by the overall story and feel of it than the flashy spots. The flashy spots just capped it off and make it better. It just had a big match feel to it, a feel that each guy wanted to top each other and that they scouted each other well. You could see that Sydal wanted to beat Styles more than anything to become a star, and in Styles eyes it couldn't happen.
Every nearfall and counter put him one step closer, but Styles wasn't ready to give up the throne. The crowd ate this up, and Prazak at one point even recognised this. Then they through everything they had at each other evenly, thats just what it meant to it. I really dont feel that a technical grounding match would have made it this special this time, as it was perfect to me. There's my explination.

Speaking of subjectivity and Matt Sydal I think I liked the Aries vs. Sydal match from June better than the AJ vs. Sydal match.

Sydal/Aries was also a very fun match. Sydal showed off his roundedness well and Aries was pretty innovative working the arm. It just lacked that special feel and Sydal's charismatic moveset to bump it to the leval of Styles/Sydal IMO. Due to what i said above, thats leagues better, but i did like Sydal/Aries alot.

Like you said it was more of a substance than style match which is why I liked it better. I don't know, I'm just not in the mark out for cool moves stage of my wrestling fandom. Am I the only one who doesn't think Petey Williams' finisher is the best thing since Sliced Bread #2?

I love that Canadian Destroyer! Awesome head dropper! I dunno, I love the technical work over stuff and think it's really key in some matches, but i don't wanna see it in every match. I'll always love a good move-for-move contest where one tries to outdue the other. But both styles rule and both have their place in the sport.

That's the exact reason I watched too! LOL Shelley rules.
The Corp. Robinson-Wifebeater match is heavily under-pimped I think. It wasn't good by any means, but I was watching it late Wednesday night (1:30 AMish) and it was HILARIOUS! They must have tried to break that announce table five or six times. How dumb were they to keep trying to break it?! I was laughing my ass off! It's a miracle Wifebeater can still walk after that.
Sydal-Styles is the reason I bought the tape, and it was definitely MOTN IMO. Not a match of the year candidate or anything, but it was really fun.
B-Boy vs. Hero was a letdown. I guess I was expecting more since I'd heard they have great matches together. Then again, those same people have said B-Boy has great matches. Funny, funny. Hero tried to save it though and it wasn't bad by any means, just not up to my expectations (which were admittedly too high).
The six-man elimination match surprised me, and I'd say it was the second best match on the show.

Agreed on all counts, except for Hero-B-Boy. I'd seen their TPI match from last year and LOVED it, so i expected what I thought was too much from these two in this match, but they delivered on every point to me. Just a well paced, dramatic match that had a bit of every style and skill incorprated into it. But i can definetly see how it could disappoint someone though.
