This show has been great so far. Nothing blow away MOTYC, but just very good and very solid matches here.
Nate Webb vs. Mark Wolf vs. Jimmy Jacobs was a fun little opener, and all 3 guys looked good. I hate Wolf with a passion (he's one of a few VERY Vanilla wrestlers in IWA), yet I continue to LOVE Nate Webb's character more than almost anyone. Anyway, this was a good match.
Punk on commentary...RULES!! He gets on Fannin incredibly, and makes me spit out my F'n Pepsi at 4 AM!
Trik Davis vs. Steve "Fuckin" Stone wasn't really a match. It was a solid beating for like 3 minutes. Davis is another vanilla guy, but Stone has something really cool about him. The match is forgetable, but the post match brawl with Rotten was cool.
Girls match next...I kept it on because Tracy/Daizee are hot and Punk is on commentary (he says "smack that bitch", and "whats that crazy broad doin"...priceless). Nothing special.
Styles vs. Delirious was a really good match. They had some nice series in the beginning and Styles opened up some fun high impact stuff as well. Nowhere near the Styles/Sydal match in comparason (SP?), but just a fun, solid contest that put Delirious over.
Collyer/McGuinness vs. Bradley/Boz (the REAL Team No Charisma) was very solid, carried by Team Technical Wizards lol. Bradley and Boz really blow and do about 3 power moves before they turn into WWE wrestlers here. Collyer and McGuinness however save this one with their flurries and counters and I enjoyed this way more than any other Brad/Boz match. Good stuff. Let F'N Collyer in the TPI.
Sydal vs. Punk is my MOTN to this point. I was considering this as a MOTYC but didn't wanna get carried away. Anyway, this one really delivered, and had me standing throughout. Sharp matwork and counters where Punk tries to intimidate Sydal, and underestimates him. Sydal stays ahead of him, and gets into Punk's head. They then trade some high impact stuff (Sydal works Punk's back I believe) and then Sydal makes the mistake of missing in the corner and twirking his knee. Punk then hits several fun moves on the knee and gets frustrated when the young Sydal won't submit. Sydal gets some near falls, but can't score the upset. That whole story and sweet selling made this match so much fun to watch. Sydal gets another GREAT match with an ME'er. Styles part 2 is coming and I can't wait.
Next was Kash/Sabu/Daniels, and this was a MESS! Horrid match, that never had any pace or story or even flow whatsoever. Considering the 3, this blew! Kash is up to TNA standards and I think he was off tonight. That said, if he ever did this again I'd fully say that he's not good enough for the IWA. Also, Sabu is no longer NEAR good enough for IWA. I'm convinced now that he has NO CLUE Whatsoever how to put a match together, seriously. Awful, worst of the night.
Now, I have 2 questions...
1. Whats with Fannin's extreme hate for Kash? Was he just playing an angle, because he seems to really DISPISE him. If so, why? Just because he works for TNA or because he's a prick or what?
2. When the hell did H2 ever actually run a show? Is this slipping my mind or what? Because Prazak keeps saying that Hero is in Bauer's fed tonight (can't remember what he called it), and that he knows whats going on, saying that Mr. X was revealed as PJ Freidman and Teddy Hart is doing flips for no reason LOL. Someone fill me in.
Anyway, then came Dragon/Cannon. I'd love to see Cide/Cannon now because cannon impressed me alot in this match and I do see some of Hero in him now. Dragon was good in his stiff strikes and some submissions, but I've now reached a full conclusion on Dragon for me (as I get murdered): I hate him. I can't help it, but I just can't seem to really get into his stuff this year as hard as I try (minus the SOTF match and Stage 1 match with Punk). I dont know what it is, he just bores me and never actually seems to do any hold for hold wrestling anymore. He just does 1,000 uppercuts and kicks at a body part for an hour. I wish he wasnt in the Quad shot anymore, nor in the TPI. Ah well, this wasnt bad at all, but wasnt blow away. Decent match here.
Still to come: Shelley/Petey and Clash's Final Thought.
