Rocky Romero vs. Chad Collyer
This is Rocky Romero. This is Chad Collyer. This is Pro Wrestling. This is Ring of Honor. This is the way to start off a show. This WAS GREAT.
I had already heard the buzz about this match so I had high expectations going into it. But this match was just flawless and crisp in it's execution and flow. I have never seen Collyer channel Malenko like he did tonight. And Romero is just Romero, his work gets better and better (if you haven't checked out his work in the Best of the American Super Juniors Tournament from the Inoki Dojo/NJPW USA then you best order that show NOW).
I think this match works much better than Collyer's match on DBDII part 1 because Collyer and Romero are more defined as heel/face. Nothing against Danny Daniels from the night 1 match but Rocky plays the part of the heel during this match plus Collyer plays to the crowd. Plus the work between Romero and Collyer was dead on. They had GREAT chemistry together. Also, great story with Rocky and trying to get his finisher on over and over. They also did a very innovative roll-up sequence involving the victory roll that was new and fresh.
Bottom line. If you like wrestling then watch this match. GREAT OPENER.
Alex Shelley vs. Jimmy Jacobs
The heart and soul of Jimmy Jacobs personifies this match. Like every other Jacobs/Shelley match-up I have seen this one is characterized by great chemistry, fighting spirit and innovation. Hot finish came when Shelley NAILED "It Came From Japan" for a sure finish but JJ kicked out to my surprise (and the fans), Jacobs then hit a SWEET senton from the top for a near 2 before Shelley took it home with an awesome combo suplex into the Border City Stretch. Great match (not as great as Romero/Collyer but great none-the-less). What a way to start the show with 2 very good matches.
More to come...

Collyer in the spotlight and another Shelley/Jacobs classic makes me a happy boy. Sounds like this is coming off great so far.

Hmm, they should be arriving the same day for me... i hope
I actually ordered them last friday, but the money only got taken out of my account today...so with two days for shipping (Which has been the standard based on my past orders) i should have both Completlion and DBDII-2 on Thursday as well
I wanted to buy DBD2-1 but it didnt seem worth it, and Kis review didnt change my mind
Now i have to buy WTC and SOTF this week...and i still havent gotten Glory by Honor, Scramble Madness or Crowning a Champion...if i get those FIVE plus DBD2-1 ill have a complete collection
But out of all the dvds ive gotten im looking foward to These two more than any others...so im psyched...yeah yeah~!

I wanted to buy DBD2-1 but it didnt seem worth it, and Kis review didnt change my mind But remember, sometimes we disagree on the quality of shows and matches. I think you should pick it up, but like I said during one of their sales. John Walters/Matt Stryker vs. Roderick Strong/Jack EvansThis was very reminiscent of the 6-man from DBD2-1. It had very much the same feel. This match was really FUN but didn't quite have the pizazz of the first few GenNext tag-matches. That being said I liked it. Evans is damn flippy in this match, in a good way. Trent Acid vs. Matt Sydal vs. Shawn Davari vs. The Great Kazushi vs. Danny Daniels vs. Delirous (Six Way Mayhem Match)The first half of this was a train wreck. The second half was decent. Out of everyone Delirious and Daniels probably looked the best. Davari looked horrible except hit a nice double death valley driver at one point. Kazushi has some kick ass mist. Next: Williams vs. Aries

Ill probably buy it at the show in Revere, that is if Scramble Cage Melee, GBHIII and the Midnight Express Reuninon arent all out on DVD by them...because i think id buy those first. But hopefully ill have a lot of money to burn at the show. And i very rarely disagree with your opinon on matches, there was really only one and that was Xavier vs London at FB02...But after watching London vs Xavier at 1AS again, i agree that FB02 was the better match, it just didnt have the instant intensity that 1AS had, but it was a very well wrestled match and i think Xaviers best title defense You can buy Final Battle 2002 from me on Ebay! cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43369&item=5122899472&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

I'm on the same match you are Kev, and pretty much agree on all your thoughts so far. I'll post my review when I finish.
"I wanted to buy DBD2-1 but it didnt seem worth it, and Kis review didnt change my mind"
I liked this alot more than Kev, really an awesome and underrated show. You can check out my review if you wish, I was digging this show.

This show is AWESOME! I just seened Doug Williams vs. Austin Aries and Low Ki vs. Mark Briscoe tonight, and they're both pretty great, esp Williams vs. Aries. Though you can't dis-credit the sheer brilliance of prickish Low Ki. He beat the hell out of Mark in an almost Super Dragon type fashion.
I'm really trying to watch this show as gradually as possible so I can have something to look forward to seeing to the next day.

Pure Title: Doug Williams (c) vs. Austin Aries
This was really good but not on the level of the two Shelley/Williams Pure Title matches. This one starts off with Aries baiting Williams into punching him and losing a rope break right off the bat. One of the things that I LOVE about the Pure wrestling rules is that instead of the wrestlers simply grabbing the ropes to break the hold they are forced to decide if they want to break the hold with a rope break or if they want to try and counter the hold and save a rope break until a later time when they will need one. I think it adds a lot of psychology and strategy into the matches when done right. Another point here is that Doug Williams was custom fit for the Pure Division. I really wish that he could have gotten in more defenses before dropping the strap to Walters.
Next Up: Ki vs. Mark Briscoe

Low-Ki vs. Mark Briscoe
This was hella fun. The purpose of this match was the continue The Rotweilers/Briscoes heat and to cement Ki as a heel. Personally I've not really been digging Ki for the last year or so but this new twist and turn from ROH has really refreshened his status for me. Match starts out with some fun indy matwork that gets the crowd going. They then move into the body of the match being dominated by Ki, who uses mostly kicks, and chops to control Mark. Ki also uses very cocky covers to get his new character over. Crowd gets really into the match with dueling "Let's go Brisoce", "Let's go Ki" chants as the fans still want to like Ki. Briscoe gains the advantage and gains several near falls before Ki reverses a roll-up into the dragon sleeper to regain the mo. Match finishes with Rotweilers causing a distraction allowing Ki to pick up the win via dragon sleeper. Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing much more from the new Ki and the Rotweilers.
Homicide vs. Mark Briscoe
This was another really good match. The first half was so-so as it started out as a fighting sprint with both guys saying "fuck this I'm not here to wrestle I'm gonna kick your ass." About mid-way thru they just started throwing down BOMBS. Jay NAILED Cide with a top rope (actually second-rope) over the head belly-to-belly throw. Cide came back shortly after with the old school but devastating pile driver (new heel Homicide ROCKS) and then KILLED Jay with a LAAAARRRRRIIIIIOOOOOOTTTTT! They tease their finishers and then Jay hits a WICKED Razor's Edge powerbomb throw~! Jay then gets caught up on the top rope by the Rotweilers and Cide hits a double arm suplex from the top. Cide then KILLS Jay with another LARIOT and gets the victory. Good stuff. I really liked the back-to-back Ki/Mark and Cide/Jay matches as they were both completely different in my eyes and complemented each other very well.
VIVA DBDII Pt2~!
Next Up: Cabana vs. Joe

Ok, I JUST finished this show, and I can say ONE THING without a SINGLE DOUBT IN MY MIND:
THIS IS THE BEST ROH SHOW EVER.
This show was just NUTS. EVERYTHING was at least solid. Most things were at LEAST 3 stars imo. Here is a quick review.
Romero vs. Collyer, like Kev said, was just GREAT. Both guys were on that night, and they were MEANT to wrestle each other. Romero is one of my favorite wrestlers around right now, and Collyer, while he lacks much charisma, is a VERY good wrestler. Two thumbs up.
Jacobs vs. Shelley was just SUPER FUN and innovative. These guys have some of the best chemistry I have ever seen. Just a fun, fun match. Two thumbs up.
Evans and Strong vs. Styker and Walters was another FUN match. Just lots of innovative stuff. I LOVE Evans and Strong as a tag team, hopefully they keep on tagging with each other. Two thumbs up.
The Six Man Mayhem, while a bit sloppy off the bat, was FUN towards the end. Just lots of really innovative and fun spots. Delirious has REALLY been impressing the hell out of me. I would like to see him bookedmore, personally.
Aries vs. Williams was great. Not as good as Shelley vs. Williams, but still awesome. Great phsycology in this one. I LOVED how they started out with Aries using a closed fist to bait Williams, and then Williams using one and getting caught by the ref. Good stuff. Some great armwork by Williams in this match, and a great finish. Just great work by both guys. Two thumbs up.
Mark vs. Ki was very good. Just very good work. Ki is AWESOME as a prick type heel. He just acts like such an not a very nice person. Too bad people don't boo him. Ki basically just beat the hell out of Mark in this, though there were some points where Mark gained the upper hand, and looked like he would actually win until Smokes interfered. Two thumbs up.
Jay vs. Homicide was very good as well. Starts off slow, but then it REALLY picks up. Some really hard hitting stuff in this. Just really fun, and really good. Two thumbs up.
Joe vs. Cabana, while not great, was a really fun title match. I absolutely love both Cabana and Joe, and this didn't disappoint imo. Insane crowd heat in this. Good match. Great aftermath as well, with the Briscoes and Joe running off the Rottweilers. Two thumbs up.
And finally.......
The SCS vs. Maff and Whitmer was AWESOME. MOTN, without a doubt. The heat in this match was NUTS. You could FEEL the hatred between them. There was some SICK stuff in this, actually, WAY to much sick stuff to remember. I loved Maff's Cannon Ball on Punk through the barbed wire board. The part where the fans started chucking chairs in the ring was great. Just an awesome match. It also had some great aftermath, with Gen Next beating down the SCS and Steamboat. Two thumbs WAY up.
Again, this was the best ROH show I have ever seen. If you don't have this, GET IT NOW!

Thanks for Hijacking my thread guys. Just kidding.
ROH Title: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Colt Cabana
If you don't like Colt Cabana then you should be banned from watching wrestling ever again. Seriously, he had me laughing out loud several times in the first few minutes. When Joe was introduced the Chi-Town crowd threw streamers at him. When Joe and Colt went to lock up for the first time Colt stops and yells "Colt Cabana" and then throws up a single streamer over his head. Awesome stuff. To there we go to the rope break in the corner, Cabana gets Joe in the corner and both go for a clean break. Joe raises his hands and Colt gives him a high-ten. God Colt is a comic master in the realm of professional wrestling. The match itself was solid and a really fun watch. Bravo.
Next Up: SCS vs. Whitmer/Maff

Non-Sanctioned Chicago Street Fight: Second City Saints (CM Punk/Ace Steele) vs. Dan Maff/BJ WhitmerI'm not a big fan of hardcore wrestling but my God this was INSANE. Chairs, Ladders, Tables, Barb-wire 2x4's, Barb-wire tables and everything else you can imagine took part in this match. Sick, sick stuff with blood flowing freely and CM Punk and Dan Maff taking the barb wire like the men that they are. SUPER SICK spot where both teams nailed each other with chair shots back and forth and then they both went to the outside and the fans started throwing chairs in the ring (after Maff and Whitmer started). Chairs flowed freely from the audience as the ref took cover in the ring. By the time they were done the ring was full of chair as about 50-60 had hit the ring (if not more). Punk/Steel/Whitmer/Maff then re-entered the ring and Maff and Punk proceeded to kill each other with headdrops on the chairs. The ending came to the match when Ace Steel spiked BJ Whitmer with a SICK tombstone piledriver off the second turnbuckle through a fucking table. INSANITY. Verdict: WOW. This was hands down the best and most complete show that I have seen from ANY wrestling company this year. From top to bottom this line-up of matches thrilled and chilled. From Collyer/Romero to Jacobs/Shelley to Ki/Mark to Cide/Jay to Joe/Cabana to Chi-Town Street Fight to the GenNext tag this was and is the show of the year and quite possibly the greatest show EVER in ROH.
