This was the only ROH show that I didn't have so I decided to pick it up during the recent $15 DVD sale. Not sure why I skipped it in the first place other than I think that a bunch of tapes were released at the same time. This is also the first ROH DVD I have purchased.
We start off in the ring with a solid CM Punk promo where he talks about Lucy and demands to find out why was behind the attack. He says he will ruin the show if he doesn't find out some answers.
Next up is a "Good Times, Great Memories" skit featuring Colt Cabana and Julius "J-Train" Smokes doing a duet. Scary stuff.
Backseat Boyz vs. Outkast Killaz
This was a fun opener. Nothing spectacular and the timing was off at times but it was still good for what it was. I think the Killaz can be a good team once they get more seasoning.
John Walters vs. Homicide
I didn't really have any expectations going into this one but I thought this was REALLY solid. They seemed to flow well together and both guys got in about the same amount of offense. Plus, we get to see the greatest TOPE CON HILO in the business (I don't think Cide's used that move in ROH since turning heel). Really solid match, the only thing that drags it down a little is the fact that Walters taps immediately when put in the STF when he probably should have held on for a few seconds until Cide could actually apply some pressure. But without getting nitpicking this and the FB2004 match versus Xavier really helped put Walters on the map. The match also featured some solid wrestling from Walters, so I'm intrigued by how he will do in his "pure wrestling" matches.
The SAT vs. Special K vs. The Carnage Crew vs. Fast Eddie & Hotstuff Hernandez (Scramble Tag Match)
Once they stopped trying to make this a tag-team match and just started going from spot to spot it was fun as hell. Hotstuff Hernandez DESTROYED Cloudy. Cloudy tried to do a sunset flip on Hotstuff but instead Hotstuff yanked him off the ground by his neck and tossed him over his shoulder. Then he picked up Cloudy and PLANTED him with a SICK powerbomb. Fun match that was good for what it was.
More to come....
