Danny Daniels vs Eddie Kingston
Decent opener that went about 5 minutes too long. I like the fact that the wrestlers get more time to work in IWA and I think it is good for them but I hate watching a match and waiting for it to end instead of waiting to see how it ends. That being said Daniels continues to improve and has steadily risen to be one of my favorite IWA workers. Kingston is VERY green but showed a good amount of charisma even if he isn't the most technically sound wrestler. Decent opener, both guys did a good job playing to the crowd.
More to come.

I'm looking forward to reviews on the rest of the weekend but I was actually surprised you rated that match as even decent. I'm usually one who loves everything from IWA and I didn't even think that was very good...I figured you'd sh*t on it.

I've seen this show...the first half of the show is REALLY bad, IMO. Once it gets to Cannon vs. Strong (which is okay but too short at 7-8 minutes) it gets a LOT better from there. The elimination tables match is just HORRIBLE. Might want to FF that one, Kev.

B-Boy vs Nate Webb
This was decent but suffered from some very slow pacing even though they weren't really working a submission based match. There is just something about B-Boy that makes it look like he is working at half-speed and half-effort almost full time. This match was also too long as I found myself waiting for this to end. It wasn't horrible but it could have been much better without an extra 5 minutes.
Aric Cannon vs. Roderick Strong
This was a decent little slugfest. No real story here just pretty much 2 guys choping and suplexing/backbreaking each other. Unlike the other matches this one felt it was on the short end as the finish seemed to come out of nowhere. Good effort by both guys even if Cannon was wrestling in a trash bag.
Double C vs. Alex Shelley
This was the first match that kept my interest from start to finish. Nothing out of this world but good solid work throughout. Story of the match was Shelley working over C's knee. End came when Shelley hit a double stomp from the top down on C's knee but then went for the Border City Stretch without hooking the leg as part of the submission. Thus C was able to get out of the hold and clamp on a sleeper variation for the win. Good booking job putting the new guy over the established wrestler, especially with the TPI coming up in 2 days. You want to make the tourney as unpredictable as you can and with a win over Shelley (who was in last year's finals) C is now a legit contender to do some damage in the tourney. Line of the match was from Chris Hero who was doing commentary with Danny Daniels. Hero was talking about the moves when they were done and Daniels was surprised that Hero knew the moves and who had used them. Shelley clamped on a figure four and Daniels asked who made that famous (or something like that) and Hero replied that Shelley was paying homeage to Jeff Jarrett.
Matt Sydal vs. AJ Styles
This was a pretty fun match and I actually liked this better than their last match. The match started out with some pretty fun mat work and sequences but after about 5 minutes it just turned into a flat out spot fest. I think the roles were reversed in this one as I thought Sydal looked green in their last match but in this match it was Sydal who looked much improved and AJ who looked like he missed some spots (he dropped Sydal on his head badly at least twice). Sydal hit an awesome moonsault to the outside and looked really good here IMO. Overall, a FUN spot match but there was pretty much no psychology or selling involved.
Bryan Danielson vs. Chris Hero- 2 out of 3 Falls
Wow. This was really good and totally surpasses anything thus far as a run away MOTN. The first fall was just tremendous grappling from two of the finest going today. After the first fall they opened up the offense a little and hit some high impact moves and Dragon also starting playing the heel of the match. The match ended in a draw when both men submitted at the sametime when both men had each other tied up. Not a great finish but it leaves somewhere for the story to go.
More to come...
