Show starts off with the introduction of the new ROH tag-team champions: Austin Aries and Roderick Strong. Aries talks about the tag-straps and challenges Bryan Danielson to find a partner and face them for their first defense on the next show. Roderick talks about his FIP title match later in the show and then Aries sends Roderick to the back and calls out Ricky Reyes...
Austin Aries vs. Ricky Reyes
Good solid, short match with an ending that didn't go over live but I thought it was decent. Reyes had Aries in the choke and Aries could not get out of the move but used his leverage to pin Reyes. I think it works because it's building to something bigger.
Pure Title Match: Nigel McGuinness (c) vs. Tony Mamaluke
This was a pretty good match as it was all Nigel and he once again used the Pure rules like no one else can. Nigel looked fantastic again in this one as he has blossomed into one of ROH's best wrestlers.
Colt Cabana cuts a promo backstage and this is followed by a solid Adam Pearce promo.
Jimmy Rave/Alex Shelley w/Prince Nana vs. Claudio Castanoli/Azrieal w/Colt Cabana
Claudio is still over huge and looks pretty good in this match. Overall, this was a fun match with Rave and Shelley just looking fantastic as a team. Shelley is really hitting on all cylinders in this one with his persona. Good stuff.
Homicide vs. Roderick Strong vs. Bryan Danielson (FIP Heavyweight Title Match)
This was good for what it was, which was a short improptu match. Originally supposed to be Cide vs Strong, Dave Prazak comes out in him pimpin' White Suit and since FIP is a "anything goes" promotion he enters Danielson into the match. Cabana comes down and attacks Cide. Strong and Danielson brawl and then end up in the ring and start to wrestle. Cide comes back down to the ring holding his shoulder (which was already injured) and Danielson isolates him and makes him tap out to win the FIP title.
Jack Evans vs. Adam Pearce vs. Sal Rinauro vs. Trik Davis vs. Kid Mikaze vs. Jason Blade (Six Man Mayhem)
This was just way too disjointed although I did enjoy hearing Adam Pearce call Trik Davis a midget.
Christopher Daniels vs. Jay Lethal
Very bland match. Both guys wrestling opposite of what they do best. Daniels as the babyface and Lethal as the heel. Lethal's heel turn gave him the opportunity to freshen up his character but he just doesn't have the charisma to pull it off.
Samoa Joe vs. BJ Whitmer
This was really good and alot better than I thought it would be. Joe took a SICK bump on the outside as they had a table proped up against the guardrail and Whitmer reversed a move and hit Joe with a wrist-clutch exploder on the outside but it missed the table and Joe landed on his head.
AJ Styles vs. Matt Sydal
Really fun spottastical match in which both guys really went after it and put it all on the line. Lots of good, athetic spots and rewind moments. Both guys got a standing ovation after the match. Good stuff. Much better than their previous IWA Mid-South matches.
More to come...
