Homicide vs. Colt Cabana (Falls Count Anywhere Match)
Cabana comes out at the start and challenges Cide and he comes out and they have a surprisingly short back and forth brawl with Cide decisively coming out on top.
Ricky Reyes vs. Chad Collyer
Decent match, good for what it was.
Between matches so far we've seen backstage promos with Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe to build up to their match later and also from some of the Dragon Gate guys to get them a brief introduction on the DVD.
BJ Whitmer vs. Jimmy Jacobs (Grudge Match)
This was really fun. I think over the last couple of months both of these guys have really freshened up their stale characters and BJ has really seemed to turn the corner. This started out as a good fast paced fun match and turned crazy when they hit they wild botched powerbomb from the top which almost killed Jimmy Jacobs. Everyone survived, with some minor injuries, and they managed to pull everything together for the finish.
Post-match Jacobs refuses to shake Whitmer's hand and Whitmer calls him on it by Jacobs is so pussy-whipped and backlashed from the powerbomb that he again refuses. Whitmer then gets on the mic and calls out Chris Hero and Necro Butcher! But no one comes out.
Jimmy Yang vs. Ryo Saito (Dragon Gate Challenge Series)
This was a pretty decent match but their timing looked a little bit off.
Alex Shelley & Jimmy Rave vs. Bryan Danielson & Delirious
This was great. Shelley and Rave continue to be the most entertaining tag-team in Ring of Honor, if not on planet earth and Bryan Danielson plays Robert Dinero to Delirious's Ben Stiller. Just a really good by-the-numbers tag-team match that was made into something so much better because of the characters involved and how they played their personalities into the match and interacted with each other.
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Shane Haggadorn
This was good for a squash. Post match Hero and Necro Butcher come out and Whitmer attacks then, they beat him down before Claudio makes the save.
A.J. Styles & Matt Sydal vs. Dragon Kid & Genki Horiguchi (Dragon Gate Challenge Series)
This was fun but disappointing. Nowhere near the level it could have been. Genki Horiguchi is really the anchor here as he not only does his best to keep this match from totally falling apart but is easily the most charismatic guy in the ring. Sydal also looks really solid. AJ looked awful here as pretty much half of the stuff he tried with Dragon Kid was botched. Not placing blame fully on AJ, but he was definitely the downfall of this match as Sydal was able to keep up with the DG guys and help assist them with their spots.
Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, & Jack Evans vs. CIMA & Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino (Dragon Gate Challenge Series)
This was a good match with an incredible final 5 minute stretch run. If you've ever seen a high-end Toryumon or Dragon Gate 6-man tag then that's how this one felt at the end with guys hitting move after move on each other in a seemingly endless run. Really good match.
Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe (Grudge Match)
This was a solid Main Event but not at the level of the usual ROH Main Event. Good work by both guys it just didn't really draw me into the action. I've been kind of blah on Chris Daniels ROH work since he's come back and this is more of the good work but not great. Nothing wrong with that, I just think his character is stale at this point and it's not drawing me into his matches as much. If you enjoy Joe and Daniels then i'm sure you will enjoy this one.
Good post match stuff as Chris Hero and Necro Butcher hit the ring but Christopher Daniels begs off when Allison Danger talks him out of getting involved. Joe gets a beatdown until BJ Whitmer comes down and feeds Necro a nice chair shot. Joe then declares war on CZW in a pretty great promo. BJ is coming off better than i've ever seen him during this fued.
Verdict:
This is a good show with several good matches. The 6-man had a fantastic finishing sequence, Delirious/Danielson vs Rave/Shelley was really good and Daniels/Joe and Whitmer/Jacobs are both good solid matches (with Whitmer/Jacobs having the holy sh*t spot). Another solid outing from ROH, pick this one up during a sale.
