February 2006 show, another good one. A step down from the last months because it wasnt as complete but the top of the card was great.
1. Jigsaw vs. Hallowicked vs. Sabian vs. Niles Young vs. Heretic
Really fun way to open. Jig and Wicked looked good in their returns with some nice Chikara style lucha, but Sabian stole the show here. Basically a spotfest in its most fun form. Fans loved it as well.
2. DJ Hyde vs. Andy Sumner vs. Danny Havoc
Much better than I had hopes for. Sumner wrestles a unique indy style and reminds me a lot of a young Angle. Havoc is OK and although Hyde sucks, he's plays a good bully that kills the young guys. That made for a fun mini-squash.
3. Larry Sweeney and The H8 Club vs. Excalibur, Sexxxy Eddy, and Viking
As happy as I was to see IWS' Viking back in CZW, this was lost. Eddie tried to get it going a few times but they were too off pace, too many botches, and too long. Really didnt care for this. This is what a bad spot match is.
4. Necro Butcher vs. Hellaware Assassin & The Messiah
A crazy SOB and a couple of crap hardcore workers. Should have skipped it but I sat through it, and it was the worst of the night. 2/3/4 on this card are why I say last month was better.
5. Adam Flash vs. Nate Webb
I have re-found my Webb love in this match. The story was basically how many times the Box has screwed him over so he destroyed Flash for 10 minutes with Chairs and tables (in fun fashion), only to lose again by being screwed. That took a match with some fair workers and made it fun and interesting. Liked it a lot.
6. Sabian vs. Derek Frazier
Best of the night, and this is where the card shines. 12 minutes of a classic junior title match where not only did they use a plethora of submissions and ground work, but traded some stiff kicks and chops throughout. Ending was a screwy DQ, and if not for that, this would have made my FUN MOTYC list.
7. Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Eddie Kingston & Sabian
Sabian was ordered to the back so this wound up being 2 on 1. Now I HATE handicap matches of course, but this was more of a story with the history that these 3 have. Hero/Claudio worked Eddie over with some of my favorite team moves until Joker makes his return to the Blackout and he and King get the win. King still hasn't pinned Hero, and Hero/C's 7 month title reign come to an end. I love this fued.
8. Kevin Steen vs. Super Dragon vs. Ruckus
Close 2nd to my MOTN. Steen cuts a killer promo and gets himself into the COD world title rematch, and these 3 mix really well. All the history with Steen/Dragon comes into play, and Ruckus uses his "freestyle" innovative high flying and sneaks in to regain the world title for the 2nd time. Blackout parties with all the belts, and Steen challenges Dragon to take a shot at the pure title next month.
Overall a killer 2nd disc and a couple of decent openers makes for a good card. Really enjoyed this, just wasn't as varied and complete as last month.
