Hell of a PPV IMO. Solid undercard with different themed matches, and then a great upper half of the card that blew me away. Here goes:
3D vs. New Age Outlaws in a hardcore match. Man I liked this! I haven't liked a single NAO match in TNA and am not a fan of them by any means but this was good. It was kinda crazy seeing two of the most successful tag teams ever going at it, and the brawling and innovation of weapons was good. Crowd was also way into it. Better than it had any buisiness being. I don't know how in the world some people don't like the Dudley's.
Rhino vs. D'amore/Roode- I detest handicap matches. They are my least favorite in wrestling. That said this was a decent, basic match. Rhino is way over, and Roode is a heck of a heel, and is better in the ring then he gets credit for. One on one would be better, but the big payoff was Rhino goreing D'amore, and it got a good pop so whatever. this was OK.
X-Division rankings 6 man match- They should have used Clark, Delirious, Red, or some other fresher talent that hasn't been around much to spice this up, but I still liked this. Could have benefitted from being 5 minutes shorter as it got "too spotty" (if there is such a thing in the XD), but this was good. Cool 6 man spots, and the "new blood of the new era" (Low Ki, Shelley, Lethal) carried this really nicely.
Nash vs. Sabin- This was OK, not as good as I expected. Probably the weakest match on the card. Disappointed me just because I'm a huge Nash mark and Sabin seems to be at his best when he's wrestling bigger guys because it requires some psychology as opposed to the endless spot crap he ususally does.
AJ/Daniels vs. AMW- Now here's where the show gets special, incredible main events. This is the best tag match I've seen this year by far. AJ uses his "sudden" offense in good spots here, and speading it out shows a lot of growth in his work. AMW's great at the old school mentality of cutting the ring off and useing simple double teams as well. Incredible flurry at the end as well, and the roof came off in the last 5 minutes. Awesome, awesome match.
Steiner vs. Joe- Dream match and a half for me. Anytime there is a major WWE/WCW name in there with a major indy name it just really shows the story of time, and how things change but stay the same in wrestling if ya know what I mean. And to be honest, this match itself kicked ass. Steiner looked as good as he has since WCW closed in both his wrestling and his heel presence. Their styles matched well, and despite the quick ending, the match was excellent.
KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH FOR THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
Christian Cage (c) vs. "The Monster" Abyss vs. Ron "The Truth" Killings vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Sting
Really strong main event. I love these KOTM matches, the concept is great and it's really innovative. I also like how they do them once a year, and not every 3 months like cage and ultimate X's. I personally hate the ending, because Jarrett needed that belt less than anyone and it didn't make sense for Christian to lose it so early, but oh well. The match itself was good and it's always nice to see Truth and Abyss in a main event of a PPV.
