Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Jason Blade & Sterling Keenan
I liked this more on the DVD then I did when I first saw it at rohvideos.com. Nothing great here but a really solid opener and it serves it purpose.
Jimmy Rave vs. Davey Richards
Really solid match. Not quite as good as their first match but still good. Richards looks like he is going to be a stud in ROH.
Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. Nigel McGuinness & Colt Cabana (ROH Tag Team Title Match)
Not sure why but I haven't really been digging Aries/Strong tag-title run in ROH so far. They have solid matches but they just kind of are there for me. That being said, I thought that this might be the best tag-title match that they've had yet. Probably has something to do with Nigel and Cabana but hey I liked this a lot.
Jimmy Jacobs vs. BJ Whitmer
Solid stuff with a BATsh*t INSANE finishing bump. Must see.
Shane Hagadorn vs. Mitch Franklin (Top of the Class Trophy Match)
I like how ROH is using the students and unlike some people I enjoy these matches because they are kind of a break from the main card, get the young guys exposure and generally they are kept short. Hagadorn is really a solid heel.
Adam Pearce vs. Claudio Castagnoli
This was a solid brawl.
Chris Hero vs Homicide
This was pretty great. The first part was just Homicide kicking Hero's ass and the second half was a good back and forth match between two guys who hate each other. Hero is so great in his role in ROH, he plays such a good heel that you really want to see him get his ass kicked- plus he has great facials.
Bryan Danielson vs. Samoa Joe vs. KENTA (Non Title Three Way Match)
Another great match and a great way to cap-off a good night of wrestling. I really enjoyed the Joe/KENTA stuff as there was just some really stiff shots during the match. This is a top notch match and the best 3-way I have seen in the last couple of years.
Verdict:
Really solid show that had a great flow and has 5 matches that I really enjoyed. Rave/Richards and Whitmer/Jacobs were the lesser of the 5 but the ending to Whitmer/Jacobs was a HOLY FCUK moment and Richards/Rave was solid. I liked the tag-title match a lot, I think it was one of the better (if not best) defense Aries/Strong have had in 2006 to this point. And the show ended with 2 top notch matches. Not much more you could ask for from an ROH outing.
