Irish Airborne vs. Shane Hagadorn & Trik Davis
Fun little opener with the Crists pulling off some fun moves as usual.
Post-match we see a backstage interview with the Embassy explaining Alex Shelley's injury and replacement tonight in CK3.
Roderick Strong vs. Jimmy Jacobs
Solid match.
Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Jimmy Rave & Conrad Kennedy III
Probably sound like a broken record but this was another solid match. Briscoes seem to be looking better and better as they continue to get back into ring shape and work off the rust.
Delirious vs Samoa Joe
Pretty much what you would expect from these two guys and it continues the solid string of matches that this show has had so far.
Post Match Necro Butcher comes in from the crowd to confront Joe and then Claudio attacks Joe from the crowd. The 2 on 1 him until Pearce and BJ hit the ring, Nate Webb then hits the ring and then Ace Steele hits the ring for ROH. Which leads to...
BJ Whitmer, Adam Pearce, & Ace Steel vs. Necro Butcher, Claudio Castagnoli, & Nate Webb (ROH vs. CZW)
Good little brawl with CZW coming out on top again in a farily even battle.
ROH Pure Title Match: Nigel McGuinness (c) vs Homicide
Match starts out quick with Cide just dominating and then going after a ton of flash pins and/or submissions. Nigel then takes over with some methodical offense and gets the first rope break. Match lingers on a little too long and ends in typical Nigel fashion with him using the rules to his advantage and Homicide losing via counout. Good match, could have done with about five less minutes. Fantastic finish as it continues Nigel's solid reign and really builds on the whole Homicide angle that carries ROH through the rest of 2006. Cide throws a fit after the end of the match and Pearce comes in and tries to get him under control but he takes off and tells Dave Prazak backstage to fuck the company.
KENTA vs Austin Aries
Definitely the best match on the show so far and highly enjoyable. Both guys are very capable of explosive offense and they both get in good runs and hit some nice moves. Lots of grumpy slapping too which is a good thing. Much like the KENTA/Strong match the night before I think this one went about 5 minutes too long- it didn't take too much away from the match but I think it could have been better as a
tighter sprint type match.
ROH Title Match: Bryan Danielson (c) vs. Colt Cabana
Really solid match and the crowd was into it since Cabana was challenging for the title in Chicago but I never really bought into Cabana having a chance in this match even though the commentators did a good job of trying to get over the "it only takes 3 second mentality". Still a solid match and the crowd really got behind Colt towards the end to try and spur him to victory. The finish really came out of nowhere which was interesting.
Verdict:
Really tight show from top to bottom but nothing that you have to see. Just another good example of solid wrestling wrestling from Ring of Honor.
