They start off with Austin Aries and Roderick Strong in the ring and Aries explains that he has to bow out of his match for the night due to an injury. Bryan Danielson comes down and he verbally spars with Aries and Roderick and it ends up in a Roderick title shot for later in the night (which is fine by me as their first 3 matches have been excellent). As Danielson is leaving SUWA comes through the curtains and canes the sh*t out of Danielson.
BJ Whitmer vs. Go Shiozaki
This was the first match and while it was pretty good it seemed a bit too much for an opening match. The opening match last night was much more loose and fun and really got the crowd going. This was more of a hard hitting slugfest where they were hitting high impact moves and wrestling a more tight style. Nothing wrong with that but I prefer the openers to be a little more fun and interactive (not that the crowd didn't enjoy it).
Jonny Storm vs. Jody Fleisch vs. Spud
Now this one should have been the opener. Just a total spotfest- nothing wrong with that it's just what it was. Storm looked really good and everything flowed pretty well. Fun match.
Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli and Chad Collyer hit the ring and take out the combatants from the 3-way until Nigel and Robbie Brookside make the save. They challenge the heels, Colt Cabana arrives on the scene and we have ourselves our next match...
Colt Cabana, Nigel McGuinness, & Robbie Brookside vs. Chris Hero, Chad Collyer, & Claudio Castagnoli
This was a fun 6-man that was back and forth with Hero and Nigel being the stars of their team. The crowd was all over Hero in this match and played up to it very well. Overall this was fun but not anything that you have to go out of your way to see.
Bryan Danielson vs. SUWA (ROH World Title Match)
Danielson comes out and says that he has been trying to track down SUWA in the back from the earlier attack but that SUWA won't see him unless he puts the World Title on the line. So Danielson says it's on the line and out comes SUWA. This was a solid match that was on the short end for a Danielson match (probably because he's wrestling 3x in 24 hours). SUWA pretty much controlled match but Danielson was able to get in a small package for the victory.
Doug Williams vs. Jimmy Rave
This was a good solid match.
Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Matt Sydal & Davey Richards
I thought this was a pretty good match up until the last 8 to 10 minutes and at that point it was pretty much awesome. The crowd totally ate the stretch run of this match up and it was pretty much hard hitting, jaw dropping, holy sh*t did they just do that type action. All 4 of these guys died several times over near the end of this match until the Briscoes ended up killing poor Matt and Davey with some sick double team moves. The Briscoes are the best high impact team in the business at this point.
Bryan Danielson vs. Roderick Strong (ROH World Title Match)
This was the fourth installment of the Danielson/Strong series and while it was a very good match I don't think it was quite at the level of the other three. That being said, I loved the other three matches and thought this was a good companion piece to those. Very snug match with a ton of hard vicious strikes and lots of hard hitting action. The line of the night was when announcer Dave Prazak said something like "Roderick is probably still feeling the effects of his tag-team match with the Briscoes from last night but at least he doesn't have blood oozing out of his head". Danielson was a warrior on this 2-night UK tour fighting in 3 matches in about 24 hours against Nigel, SUWA and Roderick- all very hard hitting opponents. Very good main event and definitely one to watch.
Verdict:
This was a good, solid show that peaked at the right time and had 2 really great action packed matches to end the show. Not quite on the level of the first UK show but very good IMO.
