They start off backstage with Lacey and Colt Cabana with Lacey wanting to mix business with pleasure and Colt just in it for the pleasure. Jimmy pledges his love for Lacey and says he will kill BJ Whitmer tonight for Lacey. Next up is a brief BJ Whitmer promo hyping up his match tonight with Jacobs.
Nigel McGuinness, Jimmy Rave, & Sal Rinauro vs. Delirious & Irish Airborne
Interesting opener here as Nigel goes from Main Eventing the previous event to opening the show here (don't think he was set in a match so that there was still some thought that he might beat Danielson and be facing Cabana tonight). Also, an odd pairing of Nigel with Rave and Rinauro. Overall, this was a decent opener. Good action and it got the crowd going so it served it's purpose.
Jimmy Jacobs w/Lacey vs BJ Whitmer
I think this feud is about doing crazy moves until someone dies. Or at least that's what it seems like. Jacobs hit a sick looking rana from the top rope to the outside that destroyed Whitmer. They went to the finish fairly quickly after this and then Jacobs spent the next 5 minutes after the match destroying Whitmer's ankle with a chair. Good match.
Jim Cornette is out next with The Briscoes. Cornette cuts a good but very long promo detailing his feud with Homicide. Cornette details the Briscoes to take out Homicide which leads to....
Jay and Mark Briscoe vs Homicide and Davey Richards
This was a fun sprawling tag-match. Pretty much what you would expect from these guys.
Backstage Dave Prazak announces BJ Whitmer has been taken to the hospital and Jimmy Jacobs glows in his destruction of Whitmer and love for Lacey.
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Samoa Joe
This was solid. Probably went on a little longer than it needed too but the crowd was into it.
ROH Tag-Title Match: Austin Aries/Roderick Strong (c) vs Matt Sydal/Christopher Daniels
This was pretty good. Definite stars of the match were Roderick Strong and Matt Sydal. Strong because he was used well and was able to get the hot tag mid-way through the match and Sydal and Daniels ate his offense well. Sydal because he hit his aerial stuff well and stood out in the match. Good opening with Sydal/Strong and then they went into a solid control segment with Sydal/Daniels working over Aries until Roderick got the hot tag. Match somewhat fell apart after that as they went to the big moves. Crowd ate up the big moves though so it worked out well. Overall turned from a solid match to a fun match. Not too much too complain about, good tag-match.
ROH Title Match (2 out of 3 falls): Bryan Danielson (c) vs Colt Cabana
Pretty shocking start as Cabana wins the first fall cleanly with the Colt 45 after only about 10 minutes! Danielson looks worried and comes out firing for the second fall as he fakes a handshake and cheap shots to gain the advantage. Good start as it puts Danielson in a position he doesn't normally wrestle in- trying to come from behind.
After that everything is solid leading up to the last 5 minutes where Cabana is still up one fall and Danielson has to get a fall to keep the title. Cabana nails another Colt 45 and then puts Danielson in a submission that pops the crowd but Danielson gets to the ropes. Danielson hits a flash pin for a near fall and the crowd pops when Cabana kicks out. Down to 3 minutes and Danielson lays in the lumber with forearms and then elbows to the side of the head. Cabana somehow gets to the ropes to avoid knockout/referee stoppage. 2 minutes left and Danielson looks desperate as Cabana is outside the ring. Danielson chases Cabana around the ring. Cabana moves the camera girl in front of him and Danielson takes her out with a forearm to the chops. Cabana throws Danielson into the barricade and then goes back into the ring. One minute left and Danielson looks desperate. Danielson with a german for 2. Then tries more covers but Cabana kicks out. Danielson locks in the Cross face chicken wing then lets it go and in a move of absolute brilliance asks the ref to check the time. The ref turns his back to check the time and Danielson kicks Cabana in the nuts and rolls him up in a small package and the ref turns back around to count 3 tying the match at 1 fall apiece as the bell rings. God, that ending was awesome. Great stuff. Not a great match, but a solid match with a great ending.
Post match they show Danielson suffering a shoulder injury 9 minutes into the 60 minute draw.
Verdict:
This was a good show. Solid under card highlighted by Aries/Strong vs Daniels/Sydal and a solid Main Event. Not one of the best shows of the year but a solid show.
