Unfortunately I am finding less and less time that I am able to sit down and watch a complete wrestling show. Because of that I am going to start this thread. Whenever I see something that I like then I will add some thoughts and maybe some snowflakes for the match to this thread (I will still do full threads for ROH and other shows when I have time). Fell free to comment if you have seen the match (or even if you haven't). So here we go:
Josh Daniels vs. Yoshihito Sasaki- WORLD-1- 2/7/04
Solid match that exemplified "fighting spirit". Both guys are kinda bland as far as character goes but both have a lot of heart and both are good wrestlers. Good match between two up and coming talents.
Rating: **3/4
Low-Ki vs. Matt Striker- WORLD-1- 2/7/04
This match was much better than I ever thought it could be. This involved a lot of actual wrestling holds/counter-holds. I haven't seen much of Striker but he did a good job keeping up with Ki in this match. Solid stuff.
Rating: ***1/4

You should put which shows they are from when you review them so people know.

That's better. World-1 eh? What did you think of the show? I'm probably going to order the World-1 4/10 show when I order the Battle Lines are Drawn DVD.

That's better. World-1 eh? What did you think of the show? I'm probably going to order the World-1 4/10 show when I order the Battle Lines are Drawn DVD. Well I skipped the first few matches cause they just didn't look good and I just don't have time to watch everything but I really enjoyed the 2 matches above (I've got 3 matches to go including Spanky vs. Cide). They had a good feel to them. The announcers suck (Bobby Cruise is OK but his partner is not) but what's new in the world of indy wrestling? Spanky vs. Homicide- WORLD-1- 2/7/04This was fun fast-paced match that worked perfectly following the 2 previous matches which were more of a "American Strong Style" sort. Spanky got a good "Welcome Back" chant from the fans and the match was very enjoyable. It lost a little of focus towards the end and probably would have benefited from being a bit shorter (not that it was a long match) but no complaints from me. I am looking forward to their upcoming ROH match. Rating: **3/4 CW Anderson/Simon Diamond vs. Steve Corino/Justin Credible- WORLD-1 2/7/04Pretty decent tag-match that told the story of the 4 "Extreme Horsemen" pitted against each other in tag-team competition. Corino and CW looked the best (I'm shocked CW hasn't been used more since the fall of ECW). Paul Heyman is a genius for nothing more than the fact that he got Justin Credible OVER. Credible is worthless. Rating: **1/2 Masato Tanaka vs. Jerry Lynn- WORLD-1- 2/7/04Good but short main event. I just didn't find myself to be too interested in it for some reason. Rating: **3/4 Overall, I enjoyed what I saw of the WORLD-1 2/7 show and would recommend picking it up if you can snag it in a trade or get it for cheap. Harry Smith vs. TJ WilsonI picked up some old, cheap Stampede tapes and this was the first match that I watched. It was shown on Stampede TV on April 15, 2000. Which according to my calculations would have made Smith either 14 or 15. That being said I LOVED this match. It was pretty much just a collection of spots with some interference by Wilson's heel crew but it was just amazing watching how good these guys were/are at such a young age. My only point of comparison would be to The Briscoes.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... how could you skip over the match with MARK MEST?! He's the greatest undiscovered talent in the world of indy wrestling!

I am long overdue in trying to make it thru the IWA TPI 2003.
IWA Mid-South TPI 2003 First Round
AJ Styles vs. Todd Sexton- TPI 2003
I REALLY liked this match. It's good seeing Sexton outside of Wildside. I thought Sexton looked good but I think he needs to work on his look a little bit. Overall Sexton did a good job of working on AJ's neck throughout the match and came up with some innovative moves. AJ finished nicely with a nice move in the Styles Clash. He's great at being able to hit that move from various positions/situations.
Rating: **3/4
Jonny Storm vs. M-Dogg 20- TPI 2003
This match started out really well...kinda like a Storm vs. Fleisch match with the opening sequence but it quickly progressed to a dumbed down spotfest. Still it was better than I thought it would be.
Rating: *3/4
Chris Hero vs. Arik Cannon- TPI 2003
This was a pretty good match despite the obvious size difference. I think I would enjoy watching Hero wrestle a broom stick. That being said I enjoyed this but thought it was a little too long.
Rating: **1/2
Alex Shelley vs. Chris Sabin- TPI 2003
The Next vs. The Future. Definitely the best match so far although I think it would have been better in front of a more vocal crowd or if it had been a bit shorter (not that it was long). Good stuff though as I always enjoy seeing Shelley work. I have actually been enjoying Sabin less and less the more I see of him but he definitely contributed his fair share to this match.
Rating: ***
Jimmy Rave vs. Colt Cabana- TPI 2003
If you enjoy Colt Cabana then you will enjoy this match. He is ALWAYS on his game when it comes to comedy. He already had it going during the ring intros as he mocked Rave's every move and toyed with the ring announcer. He is comic gold. As for the match it was so-so. I've seen much better out of both of these two but nothing bad.
Rating: **1/4
Danny Daniels vs. Ken Anderson- TPI 2003
I really liked the start of this match but it just went too long. It ended up being over 15 minutes and for me it started to go down hill quickly after the 10 minute mark. Overall it was still probably better than I thought it would be but it would have been better if it had been shorter (and if Anderson would have remembered to sell the arm during the last 5 minutes of the match).
Rating: *3/4
Jerry Lynn vs. Michael Shane- TPI 2003
Good little match here with 2 current TNA guys. Shane works over the arm throughout the match and Lynn sells it like a champ. Ending comes with some screwy ref bumps, and false finishes and Lynn comes out on top with the cradle piledriver after 15+ minutes.
Rating: **3/4
Overall I was dissapointed with the first round of the 2003 TPI. One of the reasons was the talent being spread a little thin with 24 wrestlers being involved (I didn't review all the matches above). I liked it better with 16 guys and less "filler" talent. Oh well, on to round 2. Oh yeah...IMO Sabin vs. Shelley was the MOTN for Round 1 and it wasn't really anything special although I liked it.

IWA Mid-South TPI Second Round
Ian Rotten vs. Jimmy Jacobs
Ughhh...I'll be honest I have no desire to watch Ian Rotten wrestle much less go over Jimmy Jacobs. I made it about half-way thru this match (shouldn't have watched that Toryumon stuff earlier).
Alex Shelley vs. Jonny Storm
I liked this a lot. They opened up with some really good chain wrestling but then just kinda reverted to the old you do your move, I'll do my move type of exchange (which was perfectly acceptable with these two guys). Shelley hits the awesome "It Came From Japan" for the finish.
Rating: **3/4
Danny Daniels vs. Jimmy Rave
Decent but bland match (which BTW is pretty much what I think of Daniels).
Rating: **1/2
AJ Styles vs. Jerry Lynn
Very enjoyable match that you would come to expect from these two. They did a good job showing their familiarity with each other by reversing and countering each other's trademark moves. Ending was a little disappointing as it was a roll-up after both guys had thrown out some bombs earlier.
Rating: ***1/4

Ki, I'd be very interested in seeing your opinion of my MOTN from Night 1; B-Boy vs. JC Bailey. I absolutely LOVED that match.

Ki, I'd be very interested in seeing your opinion of my MOTN from Night 1; B-Boy vs. JC Bailey. I absolutely LOVED that match. To be honest I really didn't get into it. I don't really like Bailey AT ALL. I dunno I just wasn't digging it. I'm kinda disappointed in the tourney so far (at least compared to the IWA "Winter Wars" show and 2002 TPI). I'm counting on Hero/B-Boy to come up huge.

To be honest I really didn't get into it. I don't really like Bailey AT ALL. Ah, that's too bad, I just loved it. I'm not sure why but I kinda like Bailey. It's not like when I see he's in a match, I automatically think it'll be good, but I think he puts on pretty fun matches with MOST opponents who don't suck. Hopefully you'll like it. You've probably heard a lot of hype for it though, so I don't know if that might hurt it at least somewhat. That was the good thing for me, I watched it without the knowledge even that it happened, let alone was spectacular. That's a fun way to watch shows, but risky too in case the show ends up sucking. lol

I think I need to sit back and re-watch some Toryumon or Osaka Pro tomorrow to get out of my cynical rut.

My night one MOTN was Shelley vs. Sabin, and i LOVED it. This was one of the funnest matches i've seen in a long time, and everything just clicked perfectly with me. Awesome stuff.
I LOVED B-Boy vs. Bailey as well. 2nd favorite 1st rounder. Great match that got me into Bailey alot. I also was on my feet cheering for this.
I like Daniels, but dont love him. I loved the finals match, and liked the Rave match, but didnt like the Anderson match much. He's OK, kinda in the middle.
Hero/B-Boy rocks. Although i HATED Hero/Cannon (worst match in the tourney), the Hero/B-Boy match is one of my tourney favorites. I'm thinking you'll like this one. And Ki, look for a shoot comment at the end from Hero LOL.

Akitoshi Saito, Masao Inoue & Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Scorpio, Doug Williams & Trevor Rhodes- NOAH 3/6/04
This was a decent match. But the interaction between Williams and Kanemaru was top notch. They opened the match with a good sequence and tangled later on with favorable results. I would love to see a singles match with them.
Naomichi Marufuji, KENTA, Kotaro Suzuki & Mitsuo Momota vs. Michael Modest, Donovan Morgan, Ricky Marvin & Superstar Steve- NOAH 3/6/04
This was GREAT! MaruKENTA, Kotaro, and Ricky Marvin looked really good in this match. Marvin looked great here and he is really exceling in NOAH, he might be the quickest wrestler on the planet. The only thing holding down this match was Donovan Morgan's weight, which looks to be up to about 250+.
